CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances from Egyptians working abroad totaled about $29.7 billion from January through July 2026. The Central Bank of Egypt said the figure rose 28.1% from about $23.2 billion a year earlier. The seven-month increase added roughly $6.5 billion compared with the same period of 2025. The data cover funds sent home by Egyptians employed overseas. The January-to-July gain followed the record level reported for calendar 2025.

Overseas remittances to Egypt continued rising across the first seven months of 2026.
Overseas remittances to Egypt continued rising across the first seven months of 2026.

July produced about $4.5 billion in remittances, up 20% from roughly $3.8 billion in July 2025. Earlier months also recorded year-on-year gains. January inflows reached about $3.5 billion, compared with $2.9 billion a year earlier. February remittances climbed to about $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion in February 2025. Together, January and February accounted for about $7.3 billion of the seven-month total. The first two months exceeded their year-earlier combined level by about $1.4 billion.

The broader fiscal-year figures also showed a higher level of remittance inflows. Egypt received about $47.3 billion during fiscal 2025/2026, up 29.6% from $36.5 billion in the previous fiscal year. June 2026 brought in about $4.2 billion, compared with $3.6 billion in June 2025. That monthly increase was 15.6%. The fiscal year covered July 2025 through June 2026, while the latest seven-month figure tracks January through July 2026. In dollar terms, the fiscal-year increase was about $10.8 billion.

Remittance inflows rise across reporting periods

Calendar-year data also recorded higher inflows. Remittances reached about $41.5 billion in 2025, an increase of 40.5% from approximately $29.6 billion in 2024. That represented a gain of about $11.9 billion. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows totaled about $22.1 billion. The comparable six-month figure one year earlier was $17.1 billion. That period therefore recorded an increase of 29.6%.

December 2025 reached a monthly record of about $4.0 billion, up 24% from $3.2 billion a year earlier. By January 2026, cumulative fiscal-year remittances had reached $25.6 billion. That compared with $20.0 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year. The Central Bank of Egypt then reported about $29.4 billion through February. That was 28% higher than the roughly $23.0 billion recorded during the comparable eight-month period. December’s year-on-year increase amounted to about $800 million.

Spring data extend the remittance gains

The cumulative total continued to rise during the spring. Remittances for July through March of fiscal 2025/2026 reached about $34.9 billion. That was 32% above the $26.4 billion reported for the comparable period. By April, the total had increased to about $39.2 billion, up 33.2% from $29.4 billion. April alone generated about $4.3 billion, compared with $3.0 billion in April 2025. The monthly increase was 44%, equal to roughly $1.3 billion.

By May, fiscal-year remittances had climbed to about $43.1 billion, up 31.2% from $32.8 billion a year earlier. May inflows totaled about $3.9 billion, compared with roughly $3.4 billion in May 2025. The 11-month increase amounted to about $10.3 billion. The fiscal year ended at $47.3 billion after June. July then lifted the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. The latest monthly, calendar-year and fiscal-year comparisons all remained above their corresponding year-earlier levels.
